Philadelphia-Magic-Garden

Philip has a goal to visit every Major League Baseball Stadium, he already has a handful under his belt and we are continuing to chip away until he marks off the very last one.

Citizen’s Bank Park, Philadelphia was next on the list! We made a day trip of it. We’ve been to Philadelphia a few times so we wanted to aim to see something new to us. After some research we decided to visit Philadelphia Magic Garden. Tickets were $8 each with a military discount, $10 without.
Once we got a few blocks away we parked at an open street spot and walked to the address. I’d suggest doing this if you visit, because they don’t have parking on site. There are a few garages close by but we snagged a non-metered spot (Christian Street & 11th). Philadelphia Magic Gardens is a non-profit organization. If you haven’t heard of it; it is an art gallery sort of thing. Mosaic artist Isaiah Zagar created it. They host different events, such as Twilight in the Gardens, Garden Sips, workshops, and other events. You can rent the space for a small gathering, too. We bought our tickets ahead of time, which worked well because we didn’t have to wait in line. The tickets are time specific; we were a few minutes late but that wasn’t an issue and we were able to take our time while we explored the art. It was a hot day, but it was worth the heat to see all the intricate work. We spent about 30-45 minutes wondering around the space. It’s fairly small, so it didn’t take long to see everything. We circled around a bit to see the space a few times. Other people were in and out so staying a little longer enabled us to get some shots without people in them. The floor was just as neat as everything else. I almost felt badly walking on it.
If you’re in the area and looking for something simple but fun, I would suggest visiting this place.

We went to The Belgian Café for linner (you know, lunch/dinner). We shared an order of mussels (I think it was my first time having mussels, they were good, and I’m glad I’ve given them a shot but my heart and taste buds prefer oysters!). Then we split a burger. It had sautéed onion, mushrooms and goat cheese. It was delicious!

After we wrapped up there we headed to the Rocky Statue and Rocky Steps. I haven’t seen the Rocky movies but Philip is a fan. I snapped a photo of Philip with his beloved Rocky Statue and he made his way (running of course) up the steps. We walked around this area for a little while, but they were setting up for a large Fourth of July Event so it was a bit chaotic.

Now, onto Citizens Bank Park for the game! We had great seats; they were behind home plate facing Philadelphia. Phillies won, 4-0 against the Pittsburgh Pirates. It was fun to watch!

We arrived home just after midnight (we left the game a few minutes early). The car ride was just as fun as the trip; Philip and I engaged in meaningful conversation and were home before we knew it!

This last part was just outside the gardens, and it was probably one of my favorite walls. Philadelphia-Magic-Garden Philadelphia-Magic-Garden Philadelphia-Magic-Garden Philadelphia-Magic-Garden
